A stylized kangaroo with a joey peeking from her pouch stands against a bold red ground in this joint BOAC and Qantas poster, dated to around 1960. The artist is not recorded. Britain's BOAC and Australia's Qantas were long-standing partners on the London to Sydney "Kangaroo Route," pooling services between the two ends of the Commonwealth, and their posters often carried both names. By this time the route was entering the jet age, and a few simple shapes were all it took to say Australia to travelers on either side of the world.
