A chunky cartoon 767 grins out of this silver-gray roundel, its blue-and-red striped fuselage and big engines drawn in bold black outline, with 'Boeing 767' lettered in blue italics above. The 767 program was launched in July 1978 when United Airlines ordered 30 aircraft. The prototype first flew on September 26, 1981, and United put the type into service on September 8, 1982, opening a long career for Boeing's first twin-aisle twinjet.
