Bold orange and black, this roundel proclaims Bonanza Air Lines the 'Route of the Gold Strikes,' with a gold-pan-style emblem at its center and 'Air Mail, Passengers, Air Freight, Air Express' around the rim. Airlines handed out labels like this for passengers to paste on their suitcases. Founded in Las Vegas in 1945, Bonanza linked mining-country towns such as Tonopah and Hawthorne before merging into Air West in 1968, a line that later became Hughes Airwest.
