An airliner banks over Chicago's lakefront and skyline in this aerial view from around 1950, issued by Braniff International Airways. The artist is not recorded. Braniff had served Chicago since 1931, and in 1935 became the first airline to link the city with the Mexican border. When the airline took the name Braniff International Airways in 1948, Chicago became the northern end of its new route through Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Havana and Panama to Lima, so this skyline was the first or last view for many of its Latin American passengers.
