This is Alpha Delta, the fastest airliner that ever crossed the Atlantic. On February 7, 1996, under Captain Leslie Scott, G-BOAD left JFK and touched down at Heathrow 2 hours, 52 minutes and 59 seconds later, averaging better than 1,250 mph. Thirty years on, nobody has beaten it. Nobody has come close.
She also wore another airline's colors, the only Concorde ever to do so. From 1977 to 1980, on the joint British Airways and Singapore Airlines run to Singapore via Bahrain, she flew with Singapore Airlines livery down the port side and British Airways down the starboard. Walk around her on the ramp and you saw two different airplanes.
Alpha Delta flew more than any other Concorde built: 23,397 hours. She was the center aircraft in the Red Arrows flypast over Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Golden Jubilee in June 2002, and she made her last flight on November 10, 2003. Today she rests on Pier 86 in the Hudson, beside the Intrepid.
Gemini Jets has rendered her in 1:400 diecast, with the ogival delta and drooping nose that still make Concorde unmistakable, in tampo-printed British Airways markings.
