A chief in a sweeping feathered headdress gazes straight out from this Continental Air Lines roundel, set against red and blue rays and circled by a blue band carrying the airline's name between two small stars. The label comes from the years when the carrier still wrote its name as two words. Formed in 1934 as Varney Speed Lines, it was renamed Continental Air Lines in 1937 and moved its headquarters from El Paso to Denver. Labels like this were handed to passengers to decorate their suitcases.
