Boston's historic landmarks crowd together in this 1974 Delta Air Lines poster, illustrated in crisp detail on a bright white ground. It belongs to the same mid-1970s family of white-ground city posters that Delta issued for destinations such as Atlanta, Chicago and Arizona. Delta had grown from a crop-dusting operation founded in the Mississippi River Delta in 1925 into a major trunk carrier, and it was an early jet pioneer, becoming the first airline to fly the Douglas DC-8 in 1959 and the first to fly the Convair 880 in 1960. The artist of this poster is not recorded.
