A cable car climbs through this 1974 Delta Air Lines poster for San Francisco, surrounded by an illustrated collage of the city set on a clean white ground. The cable cars, still hauled up the city's steep hills by moving underground cables, were already a beloved landmark and the obvious emblem for a poster like this. The style matches Delta's other destination posters from the same year, including Detroit, Hawaii, New Orleans, New York and North Carolina. The artist is not recorded on our copy. It is a bright, cheerful view of the city by the Bay.
