The white dome of the United States Capitol rises behind an orange falcon on this round Eastern Air Lines label, with Washington in script and Express in italics against a navy sky. Washington sat on Eastern's busy East Coast spine; by 1937 its routes ran from New York to Washington, Atlanta and New Orleans. Passengers received labels like this to put on their luggage. In 1961 Eastern linked Washington, New York and Boston with the industry's first air shuttle.
