A blue Finnair sticker announces a 'New Route: Los Angeles - Seattle - Helsinki, Starts May '81,' beneath the airline's white roundel and wordmark. Finnair did open routes to both Los Angeles and Seattle in 1981, carrying its colors to the American West Coast. By then the airline, founded in 1923 as Aero O/Y, was a wide-body operator, having introduced the DC-10-30 on Helsinki to New York in 1975. Stickers like this went to passengers to mark their luggage.
