A Finnair McDonnell Douglas MD-11 climbs above the clouds beneath a big gold 'MD-11' headline, with 'Entering Service 1991' printed in the corner. Finnair was the launch customer for the three-engine jet: its first MD-11 was delivered on 7 December 1990 and flew its first revenue service, Helsinki to Tenerife, on 20 December 1990. The sticker heralds a new long-haul flagship for an airline that had been flying since its founding as Aero O/Y in 1923.
