For this circa-1960 California poster, David Klein looked up — way up — at a giant redwood with a road tunnel cut through its base, the kind of drive-through tree that drew motorists to Northern California. Dealers identify it as the Chandelier Tree in Leggett. Klein frames the trunk with green boughs above and a sliver of sunlit road below, with "CALIFORNIA" in tall outlined letters and a red "Fly TWA." Klein (1918–2005) was the artist behind TWA's best-known destination posters of the jet age.
