David Klein's late-1960s Chicago poster crams the whole city under a rainbow arch: an Art Institute lion, the Water Tower, Marina City, the Wrigley Building and Lake Michigan's waves, all in saturated psychedelic color. At the bottom runs "up up and away TWA," the slogan the airline adopted in the late 1960s. Klein (1918–2005) spent more than a decade as TWA's poster artist, and this design shows how far his style moved from the clean modernism of his 1950s work.
