David Klein's circa-1960 Europe poster fits a whole continent into one composition: a woman in an Alpine dirndl stands at the center, surrounded by the Colosseum, a Greek column, the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and a Venetian gondola. It was TWA's way of selling the grand tour in the new jet age, when its 707s could take a traveler across the Atlantic and on to several countries in a single trip. Klein (1918–2005) created TWA's best-known destination posters of the period.
