Simon Greco (1917–2005), an illustrator who worked for Life magazine, sold France to TWA travelers as the capital of fashion. His early-1950s poster centers on a dressmaker's form half-draped in red fabric, ringed by French symbols — a smiling sun, the tricolor, château towers, wine grapes and a café awning that carries his own name. An airliner passes in the sky behind. It is one of the classic designs from TWA's propeller era, when its transatlantic flights first made a Paris holiday realistic for Americans.
