In the later 1960s David Klein's TWA posters went psychedelic, and his Hawaii design is one of the brightest examples. The whole poster is a ukulele assembled from Hawaiian imagery — rainbow bands, a curling wave, a flowering lei, palms along the shore and the faces of island women — under bold red "HAWAII" lettering and a small TWA jet. Klein (1918–2005) spent more than a decade as TWA's poster artist, and this later work shows how far he pushed the style.
