David Klein's Los Angeles poster from around 1959 is a burst of gold: a mission bell wall with its bells in their arches, a flock of white swallows streaming past, and a huge sun built from a mosaic of tiny swallows and triangles. The swallows and the bell wall point to Mission San Juan Capistrano, famous for the birds' yearly return. "Los Angeles" sits inside the sun with a red "Fly TWA Jets" below. Klein (1918–2005) created TWA's signature jet-age poster series.
