This 1950s TWA poster by Bob Smith paints Southern California in warm yellows: a whitewashed Spanish mission with its bell tower — identified by dealers as Old Mission Santa Barbara, founded in 1786 — framed by tall palms, blooming aloes and blue water, with a Lockheed Constellation in the sky. "Los Angeles" is lettered in an easy script with "Fly TWA!" beneath. It captures the postwar California dream that TWA was selling on its coast-to-coast routes.
