Simon Greco (1917–2005), an illustrator who worked for Life magazine, pitched Paris to TWA travelers as the capital of couture. This early-1950s design centers on a dressmaker's form draped in deep red fabric, with "PARIS" lettered across it and French symbols all around — a smiling sun, the tricolor, château towers and turrets, and a still life of grapes and fruit. An airliner crosses the sky behind. Greco also issued the same artwork with "to France" lettering; this is the Paris version.
