The bold blue double-peaked logo and outlined Hughes Airwest lettering sit on the bright yellow the airline called Sundance Yellow, paired with Universe Blue. Air West was formed in 1968 from Bonanza, Pacific and West Coast airlines, and after Howard Hughes bought it in 1970 it became Hughes Air West. The yellow scheme and the one-word Airwest name followed in 1971. Republic Airlines took it over on October 1, 1980, and the yellow jets were gradually repainted. Airlines gave stickers like this to passengers for their bags.
