"El Baile de Andalucía" - the dance of Andalusia - is the subject of this Iberia poster from around the 1940s. A flamenco dancer in a flowing red dress turns against a deep blue ground, the bold color contrast doing all the work of the music and movement. Flamenco, born in southern Spain, was the image Spain most often used to greet foreign visitors, and Iberia, the country's national airline, returned to it again and again in its advertising. The artist is not recorded on our copy, but the poster is a striking early example of that tradition.
