Against a dramatic black background, this 1958 "Fly Iberia" poster shows a flamenco dancer caught mid-turn in a dress of bright orange ruffles, with a lively market scene set around her. The dark ground makes the warm colors glow, as if the dancer were lit by a single spotlight. Iberia, Lineas Aereas Espanolas, was Spain's national airline, and in the 1950s it leaned heavily on flamenco and festival imagery to sell the country to a growing wave of foreign tourists. The artist is not recorded on our copy.
