In 1961 Iberia entered the jet age with the Douglas DC-8, and this poster from that year proudly carries the words "Jet DC-8" under the name of Spain. The scene is pure festival: riders on horseback in bright traditional dress, the kind of colorful procession seen at Andalusian fairs and pilgrimages. Pairing that centuries-old pageantry with a brand-new jetliner neatly summed up the pitch to travelers of the early 1960s - timeless Spain, now just a few hours away.
