"Vuele a America" - fly to America - announces this 1950 Iberia poster, aimed at Spanish travelers rather than tourists coming in. On a deep green ground, an airliner flies past a broad-brimmed hat, a simple emblem of the Spanish-speaking Americas across the Atlantic. In the years after the Second World War, Iberia built up long-haul service linking Spain with Latin America, where millions of people shared the language and family ties with the old country. The artist is not recorded on our copy, but the spare, graphic design is typical of the airline's mid-century posters.
