Icelandair's North Atlantic network linked Iceland with the United States, and this label marks that side of the business. The company began as Flugfelag Akureyrar in 1937, became Flugfelag Islands in 1940, merged with Loftleidir in 1973 under the Flugleidir holding company, and adopted Icelandair as its international trade name in 1979.
