Set on a cool teal ground, this vintage-style design for Imperial Airways pairs a route map with an airliner and the names Africa, India, Egypt and England. Egypt was the crossroads of Imperial's network: from there the services branched south through Africa and east toward India, all tied back to London. Route maps were a favorite theme of the airline's publicity, showing how far the red-letter British routes now reached. Imperial Airways flew these Empire routes until it became part of BOAC at the start of the 1940s. This is a modern restoration-style artwork rather than a dated original.
