On a warm cream ground, a camel rider in silhouette crosses the desert while a biplane flies overhead in this vintage-style design for Imperial Airways, captioned "England - Egypt - India." The image sums up the meeting of old and new along the airline's route to the East, where the fastest way across the desert had suddenly become the sky. Egypt was the great junction of Imperial's interwar network, the point where services turned toward India. Imperial Airways flew this route until it became part of BOAC at the start of the 1940s. This is a modern restoration-style artwork rather than a dated original.
