A long red strip carries the slanted white Lauda-air wordmark, the words "Lufthansa Partner" and, at the right, a gold winged figure with the motto "Service is our success." Lauda Air was founded in April 1979 by Formula One champion Niki Lauda, starting with two Fokker F27s, and began scheduled service in 1988 from its Vienna base. The "Lufthansa Partner" line dates the design to after 1992, when the two airlines signed a strategic alliance. Lauda Air later became part of Austrian Airlines.
