Germany's other airline., declares this red square in bold white capitals, a cheeky positioning line above the boxed LTU International Airways logo. LTU was established in 1955 as Lufttransport Union, began operations in 1956 and made Düsseldorf its headquarters from 1961, growing into one of the country's best-known leisure carriers flying from the Rhineland. Its independent run ended when Air Berlin acquired it in March 2007.
