“Luftreisen” – air travel – is the message of this 1927 Deutsche Luft Hansa poster. A woman holding flowers steps down from an aircraft while the pilot stands by, a picture of arrival as a happy, even festive occasion. It was made just a year after Deutsche Luft Hansa was formed in 1926 from the merger of Deutscher Aero Lloyd and Junkers Luftverkehr, when the new airline was working hard to persuade the public that flying was safe and pleasant. The company is the forerunner of today's Lufthansa.
