This is the illustrated cover of Lufthansa's 1956 Summer Timetable, International Issue: a colourful jumble of European landmarks, spires, towers and gabled houses, framed in deep blue under the Lufthansa name. It comes from the airline's second summer back in the air. Lufthansa won approval to start scheduled flights on 1 April 1955, soon flew to London, Paris and Madrid, began Super Constellation service to New York in June 1955 and added South Atlantic routes from August 1956.
