Four jetliners in blue, red, yellow and orange overlap in formation on a black square, a joyful piece of graphic design above the crane emblem and the words "Lufthansa German Airlines." The swept-wing shapes speak of the jet age, which Lufthansa entered when it ordered Boeing 707s in 1958 and launched jet service between Frankfurt and New York in March 1960.
