A striped windsock flies above a dark green Budapest skyline, crowned by the dome of the Parliament, in this red-edged triangular label reading "Malev Hungarian Air Transport." Hungary's airline was founded on 29 March 1946 as the Hungarian-Soviet company Maszovlet, and became Malev in November 1954 when Hungary took over the Soviet shares. Flying from Budapest Ferihegy, it served as the national carrier until it ceased operations in February 2012. Passengers once pasted labels like this onto their suitcases.
