Three green winged emblems are spread across this aged paper label, along with the words Misr Airwork, Egyptian Air Lines and Cairo. Misr Airwork was the forerunner of today's EgyptAir: its airline division was established on June 7, 1932, as a venture between Misr Bank and the British firm Airwork. In 1949 the Egyptian government took full ownership and renamed the company Misrair, and the airline became EgyptAir in 1971. Passengers received labels like this to paste on their luggage, a reminder of Egypt's pioneering early airline.
