Bold navy NORTH CENTRAL lettering arcs across a bright red oval on this bag sticker, while Herman the duck swoops through a cream circle and Route of the Northliners runs along the bottom. Created by Karl Brocken, the flying mallard became the face of North Central, which began as Wisconsin Central Airlines in 1944 and was renamed in 1952. Airlines gave labels like this to passengers to stick on their luggage, and Herman flew on until the 1979 merger that created Republic Airlines.
