One of the earliest designs in the Pan Am poster story, To Mexico... by Air! was issued around 1930 under the airline's early name, Pan-American Airways System. A Mexican couple in traditional dress stands beneath a glowing yellow sky with a snow-capped volcano behind them, an image that promised the romance of Mexico was now within easy reach by plane. According to the SFO Museum, Mexico City had been a Pan Am destination since the early 1930s, making it one of the airline's first international markets. The artist is not recorded.
