Two Parisian figures, a waiter and a uniformed doorman, raise glasses of champagne in a toast on this Paris poster, designed for Pan Am by American illustrator Aaron Fine around 1960. Set against a cool blue ground with the city's skyline behind, the design shows the bold color, clean lines and gentle wit that mark Fine's mid-century work. It celebrated a new era of travel: Pan American had inaugurated transatlantic jet service with the Boeing 707 in 1958, putting Paris within a single day's reach of New York.
