Mexican-born artist León Helguera (1899–1970), who worked in New York and became known for his Pan American posters, drew this pictorial world map, Routes of the Flying Clipper Ships. It shows the network as of December 7, 1941, with Pan Am routes in red and services disrupted by war in Europe and China dashed, and a note that later wartime changes were censored. A Boeing 314 flying boat, a Boeing 307 Stratoliner, a sailing clipper ship, Neptune and a mermaid decorate the map, while routes reach from South America to Lisbon, Singapore and New Zealand.
