Pan Am chose an Airbus offer in September 1984 and leased A300B4s as interim aircraft; the first, N202PA Clipper America, arrived on December 21, 1984. The full billboard-title livery dates from the same year. The A300s flew U.S., Caribbean, Latin American and intra-European routes for Pan Am.
