The navy border carries Pan American World Airways and The System of the Flying Clippers. Labels like this were handed to passengers for their suitcases. Pan American Airways flew its first scheduled service, an airmail run from Key West to Havana, in October 1927, and named its flying boats and airliners Clippers from 1931 onward. The name Pan American World Airways was in use from 1943 and became official in 1950.
