A blue winged globe sweeps up out of a red, white and blue field on this upright label, with PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS lettered across the base. The winged globe was Pan Am's emblem until 1958, when the plain light-blue globe replaced it; the airline's trademark history says it was redrawn in 1944 to take in Europe, Africa and Asia as the routes went global. Pan American World Airways was in use as a name from 1943 and became the official company name in 1950.
