A smiling woman with a basket of flowers stands before the Arc de Triomphe while a Lockheed Constellation flies overhead in this postwar poster, which praises the airliner as the "world leader in speed, comfort, safety." Dealers date it to around the 1950s; the artist is not recorded. With its three tail fins and graceful, curving fuselage, the Constellation was the glamour airliner of the era and carried many of the first postwar passengers across the Atlantic to Paris. Posters like this one sold the dream of stepping off a pressurized airliner and straight into the flower stalls and boulevards of the French capital.
