Ship via PIA all the way, reads this small cream label in red script, with a speed-lined PIA logo at its center. Peruvian International Airways was founded on January 14, 1946, headed by C. M. Keys with investors from Peru, Canada and the United States. Based in Lima and flying Douglas DC-4s, it linked Peru with Havana, Panama and Santiago and reached Washington and New York, starting New York flights in July 1948. The airline ceased operations in February 1949, barely three years after its founding.
