The slogan suits a carrier that kept widening its reach: Piedmont, based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, began flying in February 1948 with a Wilmington to Cincinnati service and merged into USAir on August 5, 1989. Founder Thomas H. Davis had started in aviation in 1940 when he bought Camel City Flying Service.
