Soaring skyscrapers rise against a deep blue ground while an airliner climbs overhead in "To the U.S.A. by Sabena". The artist and date are not recorded. After the Second World War, Belgium's national airline joined the race across the North Atlantic, opening service between Brussels and New York in 1947, and the Manhattan skyline became a recurring image in its posters, a promise that the New World was only a flight away. Founded in 1923, Sabena flew until 2001, when its role passed to what is now Brussels Airlines.
