Tivoli guardsmen and the towers and spires of Copenhagen crowd a deep blue sky in this 1956 SAS poster, which hails the Danish capital as the "Air-World Crossroads" and invites travelers to see wonderful Copenhagen. A French edition of the campaign used the line "Carrefour des routes aériennes du monde", crossroads of the world's air routes. The artist is not recorded. The slogan reflected real ambition: from its Copenhagen hub SAS opened the first scheduled polar route, to Los Angeles, in 1954, followed by a polar service to Tokyo in 1957.
