A grinning cartoon troll sits inside a blazing orange sun in "Norway - Land of the Midnight Sun", a design by the Norwegian graphic artist Knut Yran. Norway's National Museum holds a copy and dates the design to 1958, with a second printing in 1961. The troll, a familiar figure of Norwegian folklore, turns the summer phenomenon of the sun that never sets above the Arctic Circle into a friendly invitation. Yran also designed for SAS, and this version carries the airline's name for its flights to Norway.
