A dancing figure whirls beneath a bright sun on a pink ground in this 1961 SAS poster, "Pleasant Scandinavia", with Norway, Sweden and Denmark, the three countries behind the airline, named on the design. SAS used the "Pleasant Scandinavia" title on more than one poster of the period, including a version by the Danish artist Otto Nielsen; the artist of this design is not recorded. Scandinavian Airlines System was formed in 1946 by the national airlines of the three countries, and posters like this one invited the world to visit the region it called home.
