The flags of Denmark, Norway and Sweden ring a globe in this SAS poster from around 1950, a direct statement of the three-nation partnership behind Scandinavian Airlines System. A closely matching design, a plane circling the globe with the three flags on a blue and white ground, is attributed by a dealer to the Swedish artist Olle Svensson and was printed in Sweden by J. Olsens Litografiska Anstalt. SAS began in 1946 as a pooling of the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish national airlines' intercontinental flying, uniting three flags under one airline name.
