Big blue script spells out Southern Airways across this pale blue label, with a twin-engine airliner tucked into the lettering and the slogan "Your Service in the South" running along the bottom. Founded in 1944 and flying from 1949, the Atlanta carrier built its network with Douglas DC-3s and later Martin 4-0-4s acquired from Eastern Air Lines. On 1 July 1979 it merged with North Central Airlines to form Republic Airlines, ending more than three decades of service under the Southern name.
